Transtech Awarded German Type Approval for CAMS (Ground Surveillance and Display System)

HERZLIA, Israel, November 21 -- Transtech Control Ltd., announced today that German Type Approval by DFS (Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH) has been granted for its Ground Surveillance and Display System - CAMS. The type approval process was based on the operational and functional European and ICAO standards related to A-SMGCS and SMR.

Transtech CAMS presents a unique approach for Non-Cooperative A-SMGCS based on a distributed cluster of Millimeter Wave Sensors (MWS) operating in the 76-77 GHz frequency band. Due to the low transmission power, the MWS units meet the European R&TTE "Class One" equipment category standard and may be installed license free at any location at the airport.

Designed as a distributed system, the CAMS performs Multi-Sensor Data Fusion (MSDF) and integrates all MWS data with other external surveillance systems and operational systems (PSR/SSR, Flight Plan Data, etc.) into one integrated traffic picture, delivering full and accurate situational awareness to the air traffic controller. The CAMS non-cooperative surveillance capability, enables the airport to gain a complete Runway Safety Net, with no dependency on aircraft onboard equipment.

Final commissioning for the CAMS installation at the Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is currently underway, and is expected to be operational by Q1 2008. Other CAMS installations include London Luton and Madrid Barajas Airports.
