The New England International Auto Show to Include a Wide Variety of Events and Attractions
New location allows for more features as well as more cars than ever before
BOSTON, Nov. 20 -- The New England International Auto Show (NEIAS), presented by Amica Insurance and The Boston Globe, being held November 28 through December 2 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) on Summer Street will include numerous activities that are sure to interest every member of the family. From a car giveaway to celebrity appearances to a stunt show, this year's new NEIAS promises to be a show unlike any previous years.
The Kids Stop Pit Stop, a separate area for children's entertainment, will have slot car racing, pit crew tire changing and sand car art. There will also be a 27-foot high CARS slide "moonbounce" for the kids to enjoy as well.
At the "Ultimate Garage" show attendees can also enter to win a $25 gift certificate to Boston Harley, which will be given out every hour, and the grand prize will be a Harley-Davidson Sportster courtesy of Bruce Rossmeyer's Boston Harley-Davidson.
The Boston Globe will be holding the "King of the Track" contest, where attendees can win tickets for two to Louden, NH to participate in the Stockcar Racing Experience. Attendees can stop by The Boston Globe booth and enter to win the driving experience of a lifetime at the Stockcar Racing Experience. The winner will be chosen on Sunday, December 2.
There will also be a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan drawing, courtesy of the New England Dodge Dealers. The Caravan includes Sirius satellite TV, swivel seats, a game table and more. Attendees can stop by the Dodge display and enter to win the Dodge Grand Caravan. The winner will be chosen on Sunday, December 2.
WAAF-FM is hosting a "Best Tricked Out Ride" on-air contest where listeners will submit pictures, and five finalist cars will be chosen and displayed at the show. NEIAS attendees can vote for his/her favorite car and the winner will receive a Jet Getaway to Montreal to watch the Bruins battle the Canadians. There is also a voter contest where one ballot will be chosen at random to win a NASCAR driving experience at the New Hampshire International Speedway.
Long-standing Red Sox fans can look forward to meeting a former all-star player, with a colorful personality and a legendary nickname. Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd will be signing autographs at the show on Sunday from 12 p.m. till 2 p.m.
The Roush Fenway's #6 AAA NASCAR Nextel Cup Car will be at the show. Attendees can take a turn on the AAA NASCAR simulator, and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. David Ragan, driver of the #6 car will sign autographs and pose for pictures.
NHRA Alcohol Funny Car sponsored by AAA will also be at the show. On Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m., attendees can meet its driver Bob Tasca III.
Seven-time road rally trophy winner Alexander Roy, who recently broke the U.S. transcontinental record by driving from New York to Los Angeles in 31 hours and four minutes, will be at the show on Saturday, December 1 to promote his new memoir The Driver and sign autographs.
Tommi Ahvala, a two-time World Trials Champion will perform his famous Motorcycle Extreme Trials Showcase; tackling the monstrous obstacle course every day, three times a day throughout the duration of the show.
Kids will also have the chance to meet Santa. The Globe Santa will be there everyday, and attendees can make a donation to help brighten the holiday season for the less fortunate.
In addition to these special features, there will be 800 vehicles from 42 manufactures at the show. Among the cars being shown for the first time in New England are the MINI Clubman, Audi S5, BMW 128i, Nissan Murano and Lexus IS F.
