TEAM REPORTS (HOMESTEAD, FLA.) - Kyle Krisiloff, No. 14, Lilly/Walgreens, HMS Post
Kyle Krisiloff finishes 29th in final 2007 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway Kyle Krisiloff, driver of the No. 14 Lilly/Walgreens Ford, ended the season with a 29th-place finish in Saturdayıs Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Competing at the track for the first time in his career, Krisiloff worked hard to learn the progressive banking of the 1.5-mile track, struggling with the set-up of the car during Fridayıs practice sessions. After qualifying on Saturday, Krisiloff was set to line up for the 300-mile season finale in the 38th position.
It took only four laps for the first caution to wave, giving Krisiloff an opportunity to have a quick track bar adjustment and add fuel before the lap 7 restart. The Lilly/Walgreens team decided to stay out through the following two cautions, picking up 14 positions by lap 24.
Krisiloff brought the Lilly/Walgreens Ford down pit road three times during cautions between laps 26 and 87. A variety of changes were made to help Krisiloff, including track bar, air pressure and wedge adjustments, tape to the carıs nose, as well as fuel and tires.
Slowly, Krisiloff began picking up positions, radioing to crew chief Bryant Frazier how the changes made were improving the carıs handling. Bad luck would strike on lap 122 when Krisiloff noticed his right front tire going down. He quickly made his way down pit road, losing a lap, but saving his racecar. The smart decision kept Krisiloff in the race, and earned a 29th place finish for the Lilly/Walgreens team.
³We had a pretty good car once we got into the race and the guys were able to make some adjustments,² Krisiloff said. ³I really hate that we cut a right front tire out there when we were racing to get our lap back, but at least I was able to come in and not wreck the car or cause a caution. I wish we could have gotten a little better finish for everyone to end the season. I want to thank all the guys for their continued hard work on the road and at the shop. I have enjoyed representing both Carl A. Haas Motorsports and the Lilly/Walgreens ³Racing Against Diabetes² program and want to thank everyone for their support during my rookie year and the teamıs first season.²
Krisiloff earned his two best finishes of the 2007 season at two very different Busch Series tracks, taking fifth at Talladega Superspeedway in the spring and sixth on the road course in Montreal, recording two top-ten and four top-20 finishes for the No. 14 Lilly/Walgreens team.
