WRIGLEY AND TEXACO/HAVOLINE JOIN FORCES AS CO-PRIMARY SPONSORS OF JUAN PABLO MONTOYA'S NO. 42 DODGE CHARGER IN 2008 CUP SEASON Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) announced today that the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company , the world's number one maker of chewing gum and its iconic Wrigley's Brands- Big Red(r), Juicy Fruit(r), Winterfresh(r), Doublemint(r) and Spearmint(r) - will join with 21-year NASCAR sponsor Texaco/Havoline as co-primary sponsors of Juan Pablo Montoya's No. 42 Dodge Charger for the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS).
"I am extremely excited about bringing together worldwide brands like Wrigley and Texaco/Havoline," said Team Owner Chip Ganassi. "We have had the great fortune to have relationships with some great sponsors over the years and I can honestly say that I am proud our organization is associated with these two companies. I think their brands fit perfectly with Juan's global appeal."
Together, the two companies will combine to be on the car every time Montoya takes to the track in the No. 42 Dodge in 2008. For every race that Texaco/Havoline is the primary sponsor, Wrigley's will be the associate sponsor on the car and vice versa when Wrigley's is the primary sponsor. The global brands will each hold the primary role in 18 races next season. In addition, Texaco/Havoline and Wrigley's will look to combine forces wherever possible in order to better promote their associations with Montoya, the No. 42 team and CGRFS.
"After a successful first season as a team and driver sponsor, we are pleased to continue Wrigley's relationship with Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, excited by the team's commitment to excellence and impressed by Juan Pablo's on-track performance during his rookie year in NASCAR," said Paul Chibe, Wrigley's Vice President of U.S. Marketing. "We recognize Juan's potential in NASCAR and this increased role creates more opportunities for fans to interact with some of America's favorite chewing gums brands."
Texaco/Havoline has a rich heritage in the NASCAR industry as they returns for their 22nd season in 2008. This season Montoya returned Texaco/Havoline to victory lane in both the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and NASCAR Busch Series as he won races in Mexico City (Busch) and at Infineon Raceway (Cup). Texaco/Havoline, who has sponsored the No. 42 CGRFS car since 2003, will continue its history in the sport when Montoya drives the black Dodge Charger with the Texaco star next season.
"Juan Pablo's strong international appeal, joined with the deeply rooted tradition of the Texaco and Havoline global brands, gives us a winning combination," said Danny Roden, vice president of North America Marketing for Chevron. "We have already had success in working side-by-side with Wrigley's in 2007, and this experience greatly influenced our decision to share our sponsorship. We anticipate that this new arrangement will only further complement our collective racing program."
