NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Driver Greg Biffle Crowns New Racing Champion for Fastest 'Twist, Lick and Dunk'
Eliot, Maine Resident William Reed Hair Takes the Checkered Flag and $10,000 During OREO(R) Double Stuf(TM) Race Finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway
EAST HANOVER, N.J., Nov. 16 -- NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver Greg Biffle, the Ford 400 three-time defending champion, crowned a new kind of racing winner today -- America's fastest twister, licker and dunker. William Reed Hair of Eliot, Maine became the first grand prize winner in the Oreo Double Stuf Race and took home $10,000 for literally licking his competition.
On the eve of NASCAR's season-ending racing weekend (The Ford 400 -- Sunday Nov. 18, 3:30 p.m., ABC), Biffle grand marshaled the competition where Hair and three other NASCAR fans -- DeAnn Bennett of Niles, Ohio, Justin Channen of Lakewood, Calif. and Kristie Sullivan of Kansas City, Ka. -- raced to see who could finish an Oreo Double Stuf cookie and single glass of milk fastest.
"I've had a great time helping to make this new Oreo Double Stuf Race a fun NASCAR tradition," said Biffle, who helped launch the campaign and Oreo Double Stuf sweepstakes earlier this year at the NASCAR Busch Series Daytona 300 race in February. "Bringing together people from across the country to enjoy this classic Oreo & Milk ritual was exciting to watch."
Taking the Checkered Flag
Hair entered the Double Stuf sweepstakes for the chance to win a trip to Miami, Fla., a city he loves to visit. The 51-year old father had been practicing his licking skills since he learned he was a contest finalist and was glad to see is commitment pay off. Hair plans to use his $10,000 grand prize toward tuition for his children.
"I was truly shocked and amazed when I learned about being a finalist," he said. "But, I quickly got over it and started practicing. I did some rigorous training for today's finale competition, but I perfected my speedy licking and it was certainly worth it!"
About the Oreo Double Stuf Race
As the "Official Cookie of NASCAR," Oreo teamed up with Biffle on the Oreo Double Stuf Race campaign to encourage friends and families to enjoy some friendly competition through a twist on the classic "Oreo & Milk" ritual. The nationwide sweepstakes was a search to find four lucky lickers to compete in Miami.
Since Biffle launched the campaign in February, the Oreo Double Stuf team has criss-crossed the country, making pit stops at races and retailers to teach people how to do the race and invite them to enter the sweepstakes.
