PPG Names Two New Vice Presidents

PITTSBURGH--PPG Industries has announced that, effective Dec. 1, 2007, the following individuals have been named vice presidents.

Thomas S. Mauck, general manager, protective and marine coatings, is appointed vice president, protective and marine coatings. Mauck joined PPG in 1980, working in several finance and accounting roles as well as corporate planning and development before moving to the United Kingdom as zone manager, automotive refinish, in 1990. In 1993, he returned to the Pittsburgh-based global headquarters as controller and business planning director for industrial coatings. In 1996, Mauck was appointed market manager for coil and extrusion coatings products, and he was promoted to general manager, industrial finishes, in 1999. After being appointed director, raw material purchasing, in 2002, Mauck was named to his current position in 2006 and led the integration of last years Ameron coatings acquisition for PPG. He earned a bachelor's of business administration from the Pennsylvania State University and a master's of business administration from Wilmington College.

John R. Outcalt, director of sales and marketing, automotive refinish, North America, is appointed vice president, automotive refinish Americas. Outcalt joined PPG as a sales representative for the automotive coatings business in 1983 and progressed through several automotive coatings assignments before joining the automotive refinish business in 1996 as director of network sales. In 1998, Outcalt was appointed director, collision center operations, and the next year he was named director of sales, refinish North America. In 2004, Outcalt was named general manager, insurance and services, and in 2005, he rejoined the North American refinish team as director of sales and marketing. In 2006, he was appointed to his current position. Ernesto Vior, general manager, refinish, Latin America, will begin reporting to Outcalt and also continue reporting to Jorge Steyerthal, vice president, coatings, Latin America. Outcalt holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Baldwin Wallace College.

Both Mauck and Outcalt will continue to report to J. Rich Alexander, senior vice president, coatings.
