SCCA (TOPEKA) - MORE RUNOFFS ON SPEED...
![]() |
SCCA National Championship Runoffs programming continues on SPEED, Wednesday, Nov. 14, with Showroom Stock C, H Production and C Sports Racing.
Beginning at noon (EST), John Heinricy is in search of his 11th SCCA National Championship piloting a Chevrolet Cobalt in SSC. Starting second, Heinricy will have an uphill battle as he faces two-time SSC National Champion Joel Lipperini in a Honda Civic Si. Heinricy manages to wrangle the lead from polesitter Lipperini just past halfway, but it may all come apart on the final lap when both drivers are feeling the pressure.
A nail-biting HP race follows at 1 p.m. Starting from pole in a Triumph Spitfire, Tom Feller is in a good position to capture his fourth-consecutive HP title, but Brain Linn's MG Midget gives Feller the battle of a lifetime. As a light sprinkle falls on Heartland Park Topeka, the pair exchange the lead with every lap. The moment of truth arrives on the final lap when Feller looks to the inside of Linn entering Turn Ten. One driver will speed to the finish to become the HP National Champion, the other will do some creative landscaping in the grass.
In stark contrast to the previous two races, defending CSR Champion Hans Peter is unstoppable on his home turf. Although the Kansan loses the lead early, it takes only a handful of corners for Peter to put his Swift 014 Viking back up front and dominate the field. The race begins at 2 p.m.
If you miss them the first time, the SSC and HP races will re-air on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 3 and 4 a.m. The CSR race replays at 3 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16.
