Tony gets on his bike for 'Riders for Health'
Local businessman to undertake 2,500 km off-road motorbike trek in South
Africa for charity
Wentworth, 9th November 2007: Tony Hughes, managing director of
Wentworth-based sales improvement consultancy, Huthwaite International
(Huthwaite), is in training for the most gruelling and spectacular ride
of his life - a 2,500 km off-road charity motorbike trek along South
Africa's rugged Wild Coast.
The event, known as Enduro Africa, is run in aid of 'Riders for Health',
which aims to give motorcycle training to health workers who provide
both healthcare and medical products, often saving lives in rural
communities in some of the remotest parts of Africa. "Our goal is to
raise the profile and raise funds for this little-known yet vital
charity, both as a result of this marathon ride and longer term," Hughes
confirms.
Hughes has more than 25 years' experience riding motorbikes. "I began
with the classic teenage starter bike, a 50cc moped," he recalls, "and
the love of my life today is a BMW K1200S, which I use for touring
around the UK and Europe. However, this challenge will be quite unlike
anything I have attempted before!"
Tony, whose eight-day trek starts on 9 November, is looking to raise as
much money as possible. So if you would like support him and make a
donation to Riders for Health, you can do so on
http://www.justgiving.com/tonyridesforlife
Tony will also be adding updates and photos to his blog, leading up to
and during the trip (communications permitting) so you can keep up to
date with his progress. To visit Tony's blogsite, see
