Jake Harris has been named Director of Public Relations for Darlington Raceway, track president Chris Browning announced today. Harris will be responsible for coordinating all media relations efforts for NASCAR’s original superspeedway.

Harris, who has spent the past two years working with NASCAR’s Public Relations department in Daytona Beach, FL, will begin his duties following the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Awards Banquet at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

"We are excited to add Jake to our team at Darlington Raceway," Browning said. "His industry knowledge and passion for motorsports will be tremendous assets in his new role."

As NASCAR’s Senior Coordinator of Public Relations Services, Harris was responsible for maintaining all content on NASCARMedia.com, coordinating audio/video needs with race tracks around the country, managing NASCAR’s Winner’s Circle driver appearance program and working with Getty Images to coordinate all of NASCAR’s photography needs.

"I am excited about this tremendous opportunity at one of the most historic and revered venues in all of motorsports," said Harris. "I look forward to becoming an integral part of an already exceptional team."

Harris, a Mason, Michigan native, is a 2005 graduate of Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan where he earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Sports Management and Organizational Communication.
