VETERAN DRIVER MURRY NAMED THIRD DRIVER FOR ROBERTSON RACING IN 2008
"We need a fast, consistent and personable race car driver". That was the wish of Dave and Andrea Robertson, owners and co-drivers of Robertson Racing last week. Today, they are proud to say that David Murry of Atlanta, Georgia has become "that" driver for the 2008 season.
For the team's 2007 limited American Le Mans Series schedule, Murry was retained by the Robertson's as a driver coach during their numerous test days and, for the last two races of the season (Petit Le Mans and the Monterey Sports Car Championships), was included as a co-driver as well. Finishing 10th in class at Laguna in a Panoz Esperante GTLM, the Robertson's announced their intention to drive the entire season in a Kevin Doran-built Ford GT-R, competing in the GT2 class, of the 2008 American Le Mans Series.
Murry has a successful and checkered-flag-finish race history. Starting in autocross and then on to Formula Ford, he moved on to working as a factory driver for well-known manufacturers. In addition, David involves himself and gets great satisfaction from coaching evolving professional drivers, such as the Robertsons. He is married with one son.
"We are proud and honored that David Murry has joined our racing family. He has been involved with us, in some way, since the start of this racing adventure when we decided to move up to the American Le Mans Series," the Robertsons said. "He is a great addition to our developing race team and, besides co-driving, know that we will learn a great deal from him."
