TEAM REPORTS (PHOENIX) - Tim Sauter Phoenix Preview
Last Week to Enter Lester Buildings Building Sweepstakes! Tim Sauter is out to prove that last weeks top-10 finish at Texas was no fluke. With just two races remaining in the 2007 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season Sauter and the Green Light Racing team have only a couple chances to duplicate the preseason goals of consistently finishing near the top ten. This week should be an excellent opportunity for the #07 team as Sauter has excelled on flat tracks throughout his career.
The Green Light team is hoping to carry the momentum from last weeks finish in Ft. Worth further west to Phoenix. Momentum has been difficult to sustain as racing luck has not been kind to Sauter and the #07 team over the recent weeks as several runs that could have ended in top-tens that slipped away for one reason or another. Sauter hopes the first top-ten has broke the ice and the team can continue running towards the front of the field. "With a little racing luck, we should have a good shot at getting Lester Buildings another top-ten."
"We lost our primary short-track truck at Martinsville, the one I liked to drive so much, so we're going to run the sister truck to it at Phoenix. Bobby, Doug and all the guys at the shop spent a lot of time working on this truck to make it as close as possible to the truck we lost," Sauter explained. "I’m looking forward to this weekend."
Earlier this week, sponsor Lester Buildings announced they would not return to NASCAR racing in 2008. However, things are full speed ahead for the balance of 2007 including Lester’s popular "Race Fan Building Sweepstakes" for a chance to win a Lester "Town & Country" building with an MSRP of approximately $30,000. You can enter the contest by mailing the coupon from Tim’s autograph card or by completing an online form found at JAYSKI.com, including the site’s expanded Craftsman Truck news pages. Entries must be postmarked by November 12th to qualify for the chance at winning the 30’ x 40’ x 10’ Lester Building.
• The Casino Arizona 150 will be Tim’s 27th NCTS start and 140th career NASCAR start. • Tim is currently 16th in NCTS driver points. • Tim is second in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings behind Willie Allen. • This will be Tim’s fourth NASCAR start at Phoenix, previous three were in the Busch Series. • Tim’s best finish at Phoenix was 21st on November 4, 2000 in the NBS Outback Steakhouse 200. • Green Light Racing’s best finish at Phoenix; 12th, on Nov. 8, 2002 with Bobby Dotter at the wheel of the #08.
Tim Sauter’s thoughts on the Phoenix International Raceway: “I really like racing a Phoenix. I’ve always run well on the mile-flat tracks similar to Milwaukee and New Hampshire. Phoenix is a little unique with the extra dogleg down the backstretch, but you drive the track in the same way. The track is a wide so you have a few more options as far as what line you can run. Like the other flat tracks, it’s key to be able to roll through the corner to carry speed down the straights.”
38 trucks are pre-entered for the Casino Arizona 150, which will be televised live on Speed TV at 8:30 eastern on November 9th and also broadcast on MRN radio. Johnny Benson is the defending race winner.
