AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 26 -- Chrysler LLC and Chrysler Financial today announced plans to support the relief and recovery efforts for the thousands of Californians displaced by the fires and the fire departments still battling the blazes in Southern California. The company's philanthropic arm, The Chrysler Foundation, and Chrysler Financial will each donate $100,000 that will go toward much-needed supplies for suffering communities in the area and relief for the rural fire departments that have been stretched to their limits.
"These fires have been devastating to the people of Southern California, and we at Chrysler want to do our part to help them put their lives back together," said Jason Vines, Vice President - Communications for Chrysler LLC. "We have heard from local relief workers that there is an urgent need for support in some of the area's less-advantaged communities, and that many of the rural fire departments are in desperate need of additional funding to keep fighting the fires."
Chrysler and Chrysler Financial volunteers will arrive in California on Tuesday, October 30 to coordinate the donations and the distribution of the supplies.
The Rescue Task Force, based in El Cajon, California, is a non-profit group committed to alleviating suffering and providing developmental aid to those who have been marginalized by geography or economic deprivation. The organization often goes where others do not go to help those who are outside the scope of conventional relief providers. Rescue Task Force also responds rapidly with medical and other immediate aid to victims of man-made and natural disasters world-wide.
