LORD Corporation Announces Expansion of Huckelhoven, Germany Plant

CARY, N.C., Oct. 24, 2007 -- LORD Corporation has announced the expansion of its Huckelhoven, Germany plant as part of its long-term commitment to supply high-quality and state-of-the-art rubber-to-substrate primer, adhesives and coating technology products to European customers.

Built in 1986 and located at Ottostrasse 28, the plant has functioned as LORD Corporation's European manufacturing site for rubber-to-substrate bonding and coating products, serving industrial and automotive anti-vibration, belting and weather-strip door seal manufacturers. According to Edward Conner, Europe Elastomer Adhesives & Coatings Business Director, the expansion will significantly expand and enhance LORD Corporation's capability to provide European customers with localized service and supply of rubber product and process solutions, rubber-to-substrate (RTS) primers, adhesives and coatings, as well as future manufacturing capabilities for other product lines including structural adhesives, corrosion control and high performance coatings.

The expansion is expected to be complete by mid-2009 and will increase capacity to meet anticipated European market demand for rubber-to-substrate primers, adhesives and coatings well into the next decade, according to Conner.

"As an agile company that values customer collaboration and rewards innovation, LORD continues to expand our business globally in order to provide our customers with unique solutions for reducing their total costs and improving productivity," said David Siporin, Vice President, International Business.

The growth for LORD is not unique to Europe. LORD recently announced that a new chemical facility in China is expected to be complete by the end of 2008, with initial anticipated capacity to be triple the current plant in Shanghai.

Growth continues in India, Japan and Mexico as well. LORD expects to triple its capacity by the end of 2007 in the Nashik, India plant in order to meet growing demand as more customers expand their operations to this region. In Japan, LORD is expanding capabilities to increase production of aqueous rubber-to-metal adhesives in response to new environmental regulation standards. Further, LORD Mexico recently broke ground on a new sales and distribution facility to be constructed just outside of the city of Queretaro located in El Marquee Industrial Park. This new location will more than double the size of the existing facility. Construction is expected to be complete in early 2008.
