Coors Light and CGRFS Raise Money for St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital
Every Completed Lap at Oct. 28th Atlanta Race Increases Donation;
No. 40 Coors Light Dodge to feature St. Jude Paint Scheme
CONCORD, N.C. (October 23, 2007)-Coors Light, St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS)
announced today the No.40 Coors Light Dodge driven by David Stremme will
be wrapped with a special St. Jude paint scheme for this weekend's Pep
Boys Auto 500 (7:00pm ET, ABC, PRN) at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The
purpose of the paint scheme is to increase awareness of the hospital and
its work as well as to support Coors Light's yearly pumpkin-themed
"Halloween Pinups" fundraiser.
"For the past 16 years, we've been proud to partner with our
distributors nationwide to support the St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital," said Bryce McTavish, vice president of sponsorship and
channel marketing, Coors Brewing Company. "Given the coast-to-coast
popularity of NASCAR and its strong fan following, running a St. Jude
paint scheme on the #40 Coors Light Dodge is a great way to bring even
more attention to this important cause."
During the month-long "Halloween Pinups" promotion, Coors and its
distributors will focus on raising money for St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital. In the Atlanta area, employees at participating
retail locations will ask patrons to make a $1 donation to St. Jude's to
join in the fight against catastrophic childhood diseases. In return for
the contribution, the donors will have the opportunity to write their
names on pumpkin-themed pinups which will be displayed in each location
through Halloween.
In addition to its annual "Halloween Pinup" promotion, Coors Light will
make a $10,000 base donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on
race weekend, with an incremental donation for every lap Stremme
completes in the race.
In 2006 alone, more than 330 Coors Light distributors and 150
independent retail locations participated in the program and raised more
than $3.8 million.
For more than 16 years Coors Brewing Company and St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital have partnered on special Halloween promotions, and to
date, Coors employees, distributors and retailers have raised more than
$33 million.
Since 1997, Chip Ganassi Racing Teams, Inc. has raised more than
$440,000 for St. Jude Hospital and Target House by donating $5,000 for
each victory, $1,000 for each pole position and $25 for each lap led.
