Intermet Corporation Announces Reorganization of Executive Team

FT. WORTH, Texas, Oct. 23, 2007 -- Intermet Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturers of cast-metal automotive components, took another step today in the execution of its strategic growth plan by announcing the reorganization of the company's executive team. The moves focus on expanding executive and operational talent in key areas and include:

Troy Jonas has been appointed Group President, Ferrous Group. In this role, Jonas has overall responsibility for all of Intermet's Ferrous metals operations.

Jonas has over 15 years experience in the manufacturing sector with extensive experience in the successful implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma programs throughout his career. Prior to joining Intermet, he held a variety of increasingly responsible leadership positions at Q Investments, Bombardier Aerospace, and Lockheed-Martin.

Steve Lake has been appointed Executive Vice President, Sales and Strategy responsible for Intermet's customer relationships and overall business strategy. In this function, he will play a key role in building the company's top line revenues in the years ahead.

Lake most recently served as President, Domestic Ferrous Group for Intermet where he was responsible for integrating all four domestic ferrous operations into a cohesive group, applying his 24 years of manufacturing and foundry experience. Prior to joining Intermet, Lake served as Chief Executive Officer of Columbus Steel Castings Company, Columbus, Ohio.

Both Jonas and Lake will report directly to Jeff Mihalic, president and chief executive officer, Intermet Corporation.

"Troy and Steve have earned the support and confidence of the senior leadership team and our Board of Directors in a very short period of time. Both have spent more than six months preparing for their new roles to ensure a seamless transition," said Mihalic. "Their appointments will allow us to keenly focus on our strategy of becoming a stronger, more customer-focused company that is nimble and responsive to ever-changing customer requirements."

In addition, Eric Showalter, group president, Die Cast Group will be leaving the company October 31, 2007 for personal reasons. In the interim, the Die Cast Group will report directly to Jeff Mihalic until a replacement is named.

"Each of our operating groups has made tremendous progress over the past two years. We've experienced some real break-through improvements through our lean initiatives and our sales effort has excellent momentum. We will maintain our focus on lean manufacturing and attention to customer satisfaction through this leadership transition," said Mihalic.
