Team IMC Will Ride to Raise Funds for Aftermarket Industry Association Study of Telematics

Team IMC will Ride from Southern California to the AAPEX Show in Las Vegas to Raise Funds and Awareness for Automotive Aftermarket Issues

CANOGA PARK, Calif., Oct. 22 -- Team IMC, a group of cyclists made up of employees from Interamerican Motor Corporation (IMC) and industry partners will be riding from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to attend the 2007 AAPEX trade show; and at the same time will be raising funds and awareness for issues that will impact the Automotive Aftermarket Industry. This years' issue is the challenge that Telematics poses to all aspects of the Aftermarket.

"The original goal was to ride from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to attend the AAPEX show. But after some thinking we thought that our ride could have a positive impact on our industry" states Thomas Beer, President and CEO of IMC. "The enhanced goal, other than surviving the ride, is to raise funds to study and then develop strategies on how we as an industry will turn Telematics from a threat into an opportunity." The money raised from this event will be donated to an industry association and fund a study and subsequent white paper on Telematics.

The Tour d' AAPEX cycling trip is set to begin on October 25th in Los Angeles and end four days later in Las Vegas on October 28th. The ride will cover 366 miles. If you are interested in learning more about the Tour d' AAPEX and would like to contribute funds to be used for the study, please contact David Pollack at (818)-678-1233 or log onto http://www.imcparts.net/misc/teamIMC.shtml for more information.

Telematics refers to the process where cars communicate wirelessly with the dealership, which allows dealers to run diagnostics remotely. Because the dealer alerts the owner of issues with the car, the dealer typically gets the first opportunity to repair the issues which can keep the customer from calling an independent mechanic for service. Telematics could adversely impact the automotive aftermarket on all levels if strategies are not development in a timely manner.
