AIAM Member Vehicles Take Eight of Top 10 Spots in EPA-DOE Fuel Economy Ratings for 2008 Models Based on New Testing Methods
ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 22, 2007; The EPA and DOE recently released their annual report of the highest fuel economy vehicles for 2008 with AIAM member companies taking eight of the top 10 places on the list. The report is intended to better inform American consumers of fuel economy ratings when purchasing new vehicles. These results are the first released since the EPA introduced newer and stricter testing methods, "...designed to better account for actual driving conditions that can lower fuel economy, such as higher speed driving, use of air conditioning and cold weather operation," according to the Agency.
Michael Stanton, AIAM President and CEO said, "AIAM member companies continue to lead the charge in producing the most fuel efficient vehicles on the road. Fuel economy ratings increasingly shape consumers' decisions in purchasing new vehicles, and we are proud that AIAM member companies are producing some of the cleanest, highest-mileage vehicles on the road today."
The AIAM member company vehicles that were highlighted by the EPA and DOE in the top ten list include:
