NHRA (REYNOLDS, GA.) - FINAL SOUTHEAST DIVISION RESULTS
The final results from the Southeast Division NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Silver Dollar Raceway are in. Top Alcohol Dragster pilot Dan Mercier of St. Timothee, Quebec, and Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Mickey Ferro from Stamford, Conn., both came from there No. 1 qualifying spot's to take victory.
Mercier defeated Jim Whiteley of Grand Junction, Colo., for the victory while Ferro edged out Paul Anderson from Erie, Colo., driving a '07 Charger. Action from other classes included Glen Treadwell from Sorrento, Fla., who passed at a time of 8.071 seconds at 153.74 mph. in Comp Eliminator. Hendersonville, Tenn., resident Jerry Holman took the top spot in Super Stock in his '86 Firebird, while Brad Plourd of Maple Valley, Wash., accomplished the same feat in Stock Eliminator piloting his '67 Camaro to victory. Both Winners took victory over Peter Biondo of Maspeth, N.Y., who took the No. 2 spot in both Super Stock and Stock Eliminator.
Super Comp competitor Kurt Damron Jr, of Fruitland Park, Fla., was able to best his competition with a time of 8.946 seconds at 166.33 mph. In Super Gas action Carl Freeman from Fernandina Beach, Fla., drove his '90 Trans Am to victory. James Noel of Walhalla, S.C., pedaled his '78 Fairmontto a time of 10.939 seconds at 124.53 mph defeating Bart Graham from Fruitland Park, Fla., in Super Street. Top Dragster driver Kurt Damron Jr., also from Fruitland Park, Fla., would not fall short as he took the top spot. And in Top Sportsman Edwin Stuart of Pensacola, Fla., was handed the victory by Rip Dennis of Florence, Miss., who fouled on the tree.
This was the final 2007 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event for Southeast division racers as well as the 43-race nationwide Lucas Oil series.
