NASCAR (MARTINSVILLE) - Bobby Scruggs Charitable Foundation Third Annual Auction Event
The Bobby Scruggs Charitable Foundation Third Annual Auction Event will be held on Friday, October 19, 2007 beginning at 7:00 pm at Patrick Henry Community College, Martinsville, VA. This event includes Driver Autographs, Live Auction (NASCAR Items – some autographed), Music, Food and lots of fun for only $25.00! Some of the featured drivers include Ray Evernham – Erin Crocker and Rick Mast, Bill Elliott (if driving the #21 car), Tink Reedy, Orville Reedy, Adam Barker, Clay Highberger, and Lou La Rossa. (Earnhardt’s engine engineer is an instructor at PHCC).
Bobby Scruggs served 38 years as a NASCAR official and was the founder and owner of Racing Image in Roanoke. Bobby passed away on January 22, 2005, after a thirteen year battle with cancer, but he “Never Gave Up” and he truly appreciated the support of the NASCAR family throughout his fight. This event is to honor Bobby’s longtime dedication to the sport of motor racing and to raise scholarship funds for young men and women who are pursuing a career in motor sports, as well as for cancer research and prevention and other programs that were of interest to him. Fourteen scholarships have been awarded in the past two years to area schools including Alleghany, Craig, James River, Eastern Montgomery, Cave Spring, Glenvar, Northside, Patrick Henry, William Fleming and William Byrd High Schools.
