The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is hosting the NHRA Pacific Division Summit Racing Series Finals this weekend. The three-day event kicked off today and will continue with final time trials Saturday and eliminations on Sunday. The top drivers in NHRA’s Pacific Division Summit Racing Series have come to Las Vegas to compete for team and individual honors. Drivers in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle/Snowmobile as well as a High School category represent 18 tracks vying for top honors and a share of the $30,600 purse. Competitors in the High School class are running for trophies.

Gates at Las Vegas Motor Speedway open at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Time trials continue Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday’s action will feature the Race of Champions, a race within a race that will pit the top points-earning drivers from each track in head-to-head competition, which is slated to start at 1 p.m. All categories will run first round of eliminations following the Race of Champions.

The Race of Champions winners in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle/Snowmobile will advance to a national run-off in November at the NHRA Auto Club of Southern California Finals at Pomona Raceway in Pomona, Calif. Each category winner will square off against the NHRA Summit Finals champions from NHRA’s other six divisions for a winner-take-all $5,000 purse. Each of the drivers who advance to Pomona will receive an additional $3,500 for competing at Pomona Raceway.
