FLINT, Mich.--The first in a series of presentations on economic re-development for Michigan will feature noted author Dr. William “Bill” Miller during a free lecture at Kettering University in Flint on Friday, Oct. 12. Miller – a leader in innovation management – will speak from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in Kettering’s McKinnon Theater. McKinnon Theater is located in Kettering’s Academic Building, which is on the corner of Chevrolet and Third avenues in Flint.
Miller’s topic is "A New Fourth Generation (4G) of Innovation Management Helps Solve Michigan's Economic Challenge." The event is open to the public and requires no registration.
“Michigan needs to gather its public and private forces to better compete in a global economy,” said Dr. David Strubler, head of Kettering’s Department of Business and one of the co-hosts for Friday’s lecture. “This is why Kettering is collaborating with our city’s colleges and business support networks to host a series of four presentations on economic development for Flint, Genesee County and the State of Michigan. We all know what the problems are,” Strubler added. “Dr. Miller will offer practical directions for solving the problems through innovation management.”
The four-part series will run from October 2007 to March 2008. Kettering is working in collaboration with Baker College, Mott Community College and the University of Michigan-Flint, with support from the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center.
Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and received both his master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Pennsylvania State University. He is currently president of 4G Innovation, LLC, a management consulting firm. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan Business School.
