NHRA (HEBRON, OH) - Coughlin & Hoosigian Win Big at JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals

This weekend's amazing weather and great racing has come to a close, and with that, eight competitors battled there way to the winners circle. Of this weekend's JEGS Northern Sportsnationals winners, none will take home as much in monetary winnings as Lynn Hoosigian who ran a '66 Chevelle to the win in Super Street.

Hoosigian, from Newington, Conn., will not only take home the winning purse and her share of the contingency, but will also bank another $5,000 for being the first Super Street racer this season to take home the NHRA Perfectly Strange Award for running right on her dial during eliminations.

In Top Sportsman the hometown boy, Mike Coughlin from Delaware, Ohio, would not be outdone by his brother John and made his own appearance in the winners circle by running his '07 Cobalt to a time of 6.972 seconds. John took home the trophy in the JEGS Top Dragster Shootout on Saturday.

In Stock Eliminator it was a battle of Ohio residents with Billy Baker from Lewis Center, Ohio, getting the best of Randy Wilkes of Zanesville, Ohio, in the finals. Doug Doll Jr. from Lititz, Pa., took top honors in the Comp Eliminator class with a time of 8.235 seconds at 150.83mph. Lapeer, Mich., resident Rock Running piloted his '95 Achieva to a win in Super Stock, while Michael Sawyer of Acton, Mass., achieved the same feet in Super Gas with his '03 Cavalier.

In Super Comp action Karsten Blume from Maumee, Ohio, drove to a time of 8.910 seconds earning him a Wally trophy. And last but certainly not least was Jeff Hurst of Fairborn, Ohio, who also took home the hardware in Top Dragster with a time of 7.188 seconds at 172.45 mph.* *

In Saturday's action, Charlie Westcott of Parma, Mich., won the NHRA Mopar Hemi Challenge, taking home the $5000 purse. The following are Sunday's final results from the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals.
