NHRA (MAPLE GROVE) - SUMMIT RACING SERIES NE RESULTS

More than 500 of the best bracket racers from across NHRA's Northeast division came together this weekend at Maple Grove Raceway to compete in the NHRA Summit Racing Series Northeast Division Finals. In the end, five of them walked away champions in Super ET, Pro Eliminator, Street, Motorcycle/Snowmobile and High School and the team from Cecil County Dragway won the team title by a single point over Atco Raceway who had won the previous two years.

In the finals of Super ET, it came down to a battle of Cecil County teammates. Chris Reynolds from Bear, Del., was able to take the victory over Michael Argoe of Middletown, Del., with a time of 7.360 seconds at 171.84 mph. Andrew Bracuto from Clark, N.J., took home the win for Atco Raceway in the finals of Pro Eliminator hitting a top speed of 128.71 mph in his '83 Firebird. While in the Street class Piscataway, N.J., resident Sean Riccardi piloted his '83 Buick to victory for the Englishtown Raceway Parkteam over Butch Dunn from Elizabethtown, Pa.

Ken George from Landing, N.J., represented Island Dragway and took the win in the Motorcycle/Snowmobile class with a time of 8.467seconds. And in the High School class, Greg Olenik of Dover, Del., a member of the U.S 13 Dragway team drove to a time of 13.462seconds beating his fellow High School student John Reed from Baltimore, who fouled at the light handing over the win.

The champions in Super ET, Pro Eliminator, Street and Motorcycle/Snowmobile will now head to Pomona (Calif.) Raceway in November to compete against the winners in NHRA's other six divisions for a national championship. Each driver who competes in Pomona receives $3,500 and the national champion in each category earns a $5,000 winner-take-all payday.
