Grand-Am Rolex Series TV Numbers Up in 2007 - Strong Sunchaser 1000 Audience Ensures Fourth Straight Year of Growth
Bolstered by a record Rolex 24 At Daytona, intense competition throughout the season and a down-to-the-wire championship battle, more people watched Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series races in 2007 than ever before. An average of 192,000 households (+7% vs. 2006) and 237,000 viewers (+5% vs. 2006) tuned in to telecasts on SPEED and the season-opening Rolex 24 on FOX. By way of a growth comparison, 2004’s Rolex Series telecasts drew an average of 156,000 households and 184,000 viewers.
The season-ending Sunchaser 1000 two weeks ago at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah, helped end the season on a high note. Airing in two parts live on SPEED, the Sunchaser drew a strong 49% increase in households and an even more impressive 54% jump in viewers over 2006’s inaugural race telecast. The Sunchaser also drew a 41% ratings increase from last year’s event.
