PERRIS HOSTS CRA SPRINTS AGAIN SATURDAY;

DAVIS, SHERIDAN TOPS IN ARIZONA

            The Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars return to Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway Saturday night for another complete program of races and Tony Jones continues to lead the standings. Jones, who recovered from a shoulder injury a month ago to post third-place finishes in two recent races, has a 125-point lead over Mike Spencer going into the Perris event.

            Jones and Spencer are among the 10 different drivers who have won this season at Perris, Jones winning four times and Spencer twice. The only other repeat winner there so far in 2007 is David Cardey, who has won the last two races on the 1/2-mile dirt oval. Cardey ranks seventh in the latest series standings.

            Charles Davis Jr. of Buckeye, Ariz. and Danny Sheridan of Santa Maria, Calif. are the latest USAC/CRA feature winners, recording victories in Arizona last weekend.

            Davis piloted his Massey's Truck & Tank Repair/Arizona Race Mart DRC/Wesmar to victory at USA Race Park in Tucson Friday, leading the final four laps after passing Scotty Weir on lap 27. Weir led 11 laps and finished second ahead of Sheridan, Spencer and Garrett Hansen. Rip Williams, who led the first 15 laps, finished 18th.

            Sheridan was the last of five lap leaders in Saturday's Sands Chevrolet "Hall of Fame Classic" at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix. He took the lead from Garrett Hansen on lap 15, slipped behind Jeremy Sherman on lap 24, then grabbed the lead back a lap later and led the final six laps in his Kittle Plumbing/Aero Camino Pipe & Supply Stinger to beat Sherman, Jones, Casey Shuman and Cardey. Blake Miller and Spencer also led the 30-lapper.
