Florida A&M University Students Win National Black MBA Association National Student Case Competition Sponsored by Chrysler LLC

-- MBA Students from Historically Black College Win Title and $15,000 Grand Prize -- Competition held in conjunction with the National Black MBA Conference in Orlando, Fla. -- Teams from the nation's leading business schools compete for scholarships totaling $35,000

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 19 -- MBA candidates from 30 of the nation's leading business schools competed for $35,000 in scholarships in the 2007 National Student Case Competition, sponsored by Chrysler LLC and held during the 29th annual conference of the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) in Orlando, Florida. When the dust settled, the team from Florida A&M University, a historically black university, emerged the winner.

Davida Jones, Dominique Drake and Mitchel Brooks, all second-year MBA candidates at FAMU, finished in first place, netting $15,000 in scholarship money and three championship trophies. Second place and third place went to New York University and the University of Chicago, each winning $12,000 and $8,000 in scholarship money respectively.

"The students displayed outstanding talent and skills with this year's case dealing with the real-world complexities of the automotive industry," said Kim Harris Jones, Vice President and Chief Controller for Chrysler LLC and one of the judges for the competition. "In particular, the students from Florida A&M University approached the case with a unique analysis and solution that allowed them to rise to the top and capture first place."

Sponsored by Chrysler LLC, the National Student Case Competition is designed to give the candidates an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and problem-solving skills in a formal competition. Teams were given a hypothetical business case from which they develop model business solutions. Each team then prepares its case, and presents it before a panel of corporate executives and business professionals. They are judged on analysis, quality of presentation and the feasibility of their recommendations.

Students not only enhance their business skills, but also glean valuable tools and information that will help them in their future employment. "Chrysler is proud of the 13-year relationship with the National Black MBA Association and the National Student Case Competition," said Frank Fountain, Chrysler Senior Vice President, External Affairs and Public Policy, and President of the Chrysler Foundation. "The enthusiasm displayed each year for this competition by students from 30 of the top business schools nationally has made this a must-see event at the annual NBMBAA convention."

Chrysler has sponsored the National Student Case Competition at the National Black MBA Association convention since 1995.
