Michelle Theriault & Team GLOCK Head to Dover
Hoping to Cap Off ’07 Season on High Note
“Huge Guest List Awaits Team GLOCK In Season Finale??
DOVER, Delaware (September 19, 2007) - - NASCAR Busch East Series (NBES)
rookie Michelle Theriault has learned an awful lot in her first full year of
NBES competition. As the series heads to their final points venue of the 2007
season, Theriault will add yet another new track to her resume as she’ll make
her debut at Dover International Speedway Friday afternoon.
Behind the wheel of the No. 37 GLOCK Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for Spraker
Racing Enterprises, the 21-year female phenomenon knows that the pressure is on
to cap off her inaugural NASCAR season on a high note. Judging by the
equipment and support she’s receiving, good things are in the works for Friday
afternoon.
“To have the opportunity to race at a track like the “Monster Mile?? is a
real honor,?? said Theriault, who currently is the only full-time female
competitor in NASCAR. “This is a huge race for our team and sponsor and we are doing
everything in our power to make the best out of it. Ending the season on a
strong note is what our team is all about. We’ve had our fair share of ups and
downs this season, but overall, I’m extremely grateful for the time and
effort both my sponsor and team have put into this season and my goal heading
into the Friday’s race is to award them with a competitive and career-best
finish.??
Theriault will have plenty of support from her team as during the race, the
organization will have a flock of supporters cheering the No. 37 GLOCK
machine during the Sunoco 150.
Last week, GLOCK, Inc. announced that Dover would serve as “Tribute to
Heroes?? day. GLOCK, Inc. will have several guests invading the Monster Mile with
GLOCK honoring them for their heroic efforts. Members of the Law Enforcement
and Armed Forces GLOCK Heroes team include Jennifer Fulford, Robert Wuller,
Alfred Butler and Heath Grossman. Team GLOCK will have a special “Tribute to
GLOCK Heroes?? car paint scheme.
In conjunctions with Dover International Speedway’s Salute to law
enforcement pit crew program, GLOCK is pleased to have Detective William Breault and
Officer Stan Roache as additional pit crew members for Friday’s season finale.
Officer Roache was named the 2005 Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Officer-of-the-Year while Detective Breault was honored as the 2006 Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Detective-of-the-Year. In addition to GLOCK, NASCAR’s Busch East Scene will be
bringing a total of 16 law enforcement pit crew officers with two officers
being split between eight teams.
“It’s such an honor for our team to be hosting two important members of
society,?? Theriault offered. “Officer Roache and Detective Breault have
contributed so much to their job and their stories and awards reflect on that. We
are excited to have them a part of our season finale and on pit road during the
race.??
Gary Fletcher, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at GLOCK, Inc. states, “
Since the inception of the GLOCK pistol in 1986, Law Enforcement agencies
quickly and overwhelmingly embraced our product almost as soon as it was
introduced. We would not be the leader in the firearms industry today had it not
been for their validation and immediate acceptance of our product. GLOCK
would not be GLOCK without the Men and Women in the Armed Forces and Law
Enforcement community that serve and protect for our freedom every day.??
Additionally, GLOCK, Inc. celebrity spokesperson, R. Lee Ermey will be in
attendance at Dover International Speedway for the NASCAR Busch East Sunoco 150
race on Friday. Ermey will also attend the NASCAR Busch Series race on
Saturday and will be the Honorary Starter and will wave the green flag in the
NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race on Sunday, September 23rd. Ermey is acclaimed for his
role as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in the hit movie, Full Metal Jacket in 1987.
“To have Mr. Ermey with us this weekend at Dover is huge,?? Theriault
added. “He is a great figure for our sponsor GLOCK, not to mention his endless
achievements. He has a big weekend ahead at Dover International Speedway and to
have him rooting for us on Friday means more than to me than words could ever
say.??
Sitting 13th in the point standings and just 12 markers from attracting the
12th position, Theriault knows that a good run will put her in prime position
to finish in the top-12 in the NASCAR Busch East standing.
“We really tried to finish in the top-10 in points and realistically we
still have a shot at doing it,?? Theriault noted. “It’s a long shot, but we’re
going to try. One thing is for sure, we’re not going to leave anything on the
table. Points are extremely crucial in the last points-paying race of the
season and I want to award our team and sponsor GLOCK with a good finish that
will return a solid point standings finish.??
The Sunoco 150 (150 laps/150 miles) is the 13 of 13 (points paying) events
on the 2007 NASCAR Busch East Series schedule. Practice begins Thursday,
September 20 with an hour and 10 minute (2:00pm - 3:10pm Local Time) session
planned. Happy Hour is scheduled for an additional one hour and 10 minute session
commencing at 3:50-5:00pm Local time. Qualifying is set for Friday, September
21 rolling off at 12:35pm Local Time. The green flag will waive later in the
day shortly after 4:45pm Local Time.
Following Dover, Theriault and Team GLOCK is scheduled to compete in the
NASCAR TOYOTA All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California on
October 19 and 20.
