$10,000 Raised for Holy Cross Children's Services Through Automotive Franchise Systems Fundraiser with Detroit Tigers

WARREN, Mich., Sept. 18 -- Automotive Franchise Systems (AFS), a Warren based automotive and home service franchisor has currently raised $10,000 for non-profit, Holy Cross Children's Services (HCCS), with help from the Detroit Tigers ticket fundraising program. The fundraising effort will culminate Wednesday, September 26th, 7:05 p.m. at Comerica Park when the Tigers play the Minnesota Twins in the last game before the playoff race begins.

HCCS, Clinton, Michigan, the AFS designated charity, specializes in rehabilitating troubled youth with an average success rate of 80%.

"We're grateful to the Detroit Tigers for helping AFS present a check to HCCS as we know we're making a big difference in the lives of many youth," says Greg Longe and AFS partner and co-founder John Lynch.

A check will be presented at 5:00 p.m. on game day to HCCS director, Brother Francis Boylan at AFS's newly expanded Warren headquarters located at 5523 E. Nine Mile Rd.

"We're grateful for the generosity of our corporate neighbors to help turn around troubled youth despite a down Michigan economy," says Brother Francis Boylan, director of HCCS.

Tailgate festivities will take place from 2-6:00 p.m. and include viewing of "The Rookie," for HCCS kids and guests, barbeque, entertainment by the band, "SoundWave", 50-50 raffle, Tiger game poster making contest and silent auction. Ticket holders will be bussed to Comerica Park from AFS headquarters at 6:00 p.m.

AFS has sold nearly 400 Tiger baseball tickets for the September 26th game. Forty-five of the 400 tickets were donated to send HCCS kids and their chaperones to the tailgate and game.

For every $20.00 ticket AFS sold on behalf of HCCS, the Tigers pledged a $5 donation. AFS has matched every dollar donated either by ticket sales or private donation.

Donations are still being accepted and tickets are still available by calling Laura Corbett at (586) 619-2160 x 310. Per the 2006 HCCS annual report, 80% of contributions go towards HCCS programs.
