TOPEKA, Kan. – The best of the best in the NHRA's West Central
Division Summit Racing Series have come to Heartland Park Topeka to compete
for individual as well as team honors at the 2007 Summit Racing Series
Division Finals. The event will continue Saturday and Sunday. Drivers in
Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle/Snowmobile as well as a High School
Eliminator category will be competing for top honors and a share of the
$15,950. Competitors in the High School Eliminator class are running for
trophies and other awards.
Gates at Heartland Park Topeka open at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Time
trials continue Saturday at 9 a.m. and eliminations start Sunday morning at
9.
Saturday's action will feature the Race of Champions, a race
within a race that will pit the top points-earning drivers from each track
in head-to-head competition. First round of elimination in the Race of
Champions starts after the first rotation of time trials on Saturday.
Sunday's winners in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle/Snowmobile
will advance to a national run-off in November at the NHRA Auto Club of
Southern California Finals at Pomona Raceway in Pomona, Calif. Each
category winner will square off against the NHRA Summit Finals champions
from NHRA's other six divisions for a winner-take-all $5,000 purse. Each of
the drivers who advance to Pomona will receive an additional $3,500 for
competing at Pomona Raceway.
