Michelle Theriault & Team GLOCK Racing Record Top-15 in Gateway

Michelle Theriault & Team GLOCK Racing Record Top-15 in Gateway

MADISON, Illinois (September 5, 2007) - - ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie
Michelle Theriault recorded a career best finish in this past Friday’s Gateway ARCA
150 in an event where patience and determination paid off for the driver of
the No. 37 GLOCK Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS.
Theriault and her Spraker Racing Enterprises team headed into the 18th race
of the season looking to turn some heads. In their previous three races this
season, the No. 37 team had showed extreme potential, but circumstances have
kept them out of the spotlight and out of the hunt.
In the first and only practice session of the weekend, Theriault posted the
22nd fastest effort with a time of 34.809 seconds at 129.277 MPH. “We didn’
t have the opportunity to test here, so we had to get right to it in
practice. The car is really good, we were just playing with the gears to see which
one would suit us best. I think that we will pick up in qualifying. I have a
good feeling about the race,?? said Theriault.
During ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying, Theriault found additional speed.
During her two-lap hustle around the 1.25-mile track, she offered a time of
34.417 seconds transferring to a speed of 130.749 MPH.
She picked up nearly four-tenths of a second during her qualifying run. “I
keep getting more comfortable,?? the 21-year old rookie offered. “Jeff
(Spraker) and the Team GLOCK racing team did an awesome job preparing the car from
practice to qualifying. I’m really feeling confident about the race.??
During the course of the short 120 lap event, Theriault showed strength.
She quickly moved into the top-15 by lap 10 and hovered inside the spot for
much of the Gateway ARCA 150.
Several close calls for Theriault would force the female sensation to stay
alert and utilize the guidance of her spotter and car owner Jeff Spraker.
The team would make pit stops nearing the half-way point with Theriault
moving into the top-12. Theriault would position herself into the top-10 nearing
lap 80 and would hold the position for nearly twenty-five laps before
slipping back in the rundown.
Despite a gallant effort to maintain her spot in the top-10, Theriault would
cross the line 15th. The Connecticut native was awarded with her career
best finish in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. “We had a really good setup, but
unfortunately the tires went away by the end of the race,?? said Theriault.
Theriault was the highest finishing female in Friday’s race. “We did
exactly what we needed to do, so there’s no room to complain. With a little more
time and a slight adjustment, I really feel like we could have regained the
positions we lost.??
She continued, “I’m really proud of the guys. They are pumped up with
this run and it gives us some momentum heading into Chicagoland next week. I
also want to thank my sponsor GLOCK for their support. It feels really good to
have the run we did.??
Next up for Theriault and Team GLOCK is Saturday’s Chicagoland ARCA 200.
This is the 20th event on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Theriault will
make her debut at the 1.5-mile track in Joliet, Illinois.
