French car maker Renault will begin selling its third generation Laguna in China starting next year, according to the company's senior sales representative in East China market.

Huang Lixin, Renault's chief sales officer in East China, said the vehicle is of high quality and will compete with luxury cars, like Audi A4, BMW 3-Series in the Chinese market.

Renault will officially release the new Laguna at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007. Prior the auto show, the company has made available some photos and some technical data about this car model.

The model will come to China in three versions, including coupe, sedan and touring. It will be powered by 2.0 liter and 3.5 liter engines made by Nissan, which is already being used in the Espace and Velsatis. Six-speed manual, automatic transmission or CVT are also available for option.
