RedPrairie to Open Additional US Data Centers to Support On-Demand Growth
MILWAUKEE & ST. LOUIS--RedPrairie Corporation, a world leading consumer-driven optimization company, today announced plans to expand into two new US data centers to support continued growth in its software-as-a-service capabilities. RedPrairie is partnering with SAVVIS, Inc. , a global leader in IT infrastructure services for business applications, to support RedPrairie’s hosting services business, which has grown to more than 6,000 hosted sites across the retail, hospitality, petroleum and distribution industries. Customers include multiple Fortune Global 50 customers, and the on-demand capabilities are tailored to support customers of all sizes.
RedPrairie was on the vanguard of the software-as-a-service (SaaS) market, and hosted its first on-demand customer in February 2000. RedPrairie currently hosts customers from two data centers, one in Atlanta and one in London, and both centers will continue to support customers currently hosted there. The Company will now host customers from two new SAVVIS data centers in Atlanta and the Washington, DC area opening in September and October respectively.
“Our customers are seeing great value in the software-as-a-service delivery model and in the E2e product suite. This is translating to great market momentum for our hosting services, which has accelerated as we have expanded our hosted offering across the full E2e suite,” said Stewart Chisam, Senior Vice President of Technology for RedPrairie’s Retail Productivity Solutions. “SAVVIS’ advanced hosting and infrastructure services model, featuring on-demand utility services such as virtualized storage, archiving and back up capabilities, allows us to flexibly respond to increases in demand, and gives us a worldwide footprint for expansion. That is reflected in our decision to expand into SAVVIS’ new data centers this year.”
The hosting option enables companies to deploy RedPrairie applications more quickly, with lower up-front capital expense and reduced IT personnel needs to support the application. The hosted model places tier-one capabilities within the reach of smaller retailers and offers an alternative, cost-effective solution for larger companies.
“Software-as-a-service providers can benefit from hosting providers with the right combination of network and IT infrastructure service delivery platforms,” said James Whitemore, Chief Marketing Officer, SAVVIS. “We’re pleased to support RedPrairie’s global expansion strategy and look forward to serving their hosting and IT infrastructure services needs from our new Atlanta and Washington, DC data centers.”
RedPrairie’s hosted offerings are available with modular subscription pricing, so customers only pay for the parts of the applications necessary for their operations. Services offered with hosting include disaster recovery, maintenance, IT administration and integration services. Companies can also migrate from a hosted or SaaS agreement to a traditional license down the road, if that model better meets future needs. Additionally, RedPrairie offers an easy migration path from release to release, with RedPrairie staff managing upgrades rather than a customer’s internal IT staff.

In the production cycle, it means suppliers and manufacturers time and synchronize shipments and production based on demand signals from the retailer. And in the back room of the store, it means having the least amount of inventory, solving the “last yard” problem of the retail supply chain.
