BREA, Calif.--American Suzuki Motor Corporation today announced record-setting automobile sales of 8,916 units during the month of August, the second best August sales volume in the company’s U.S. history. The sales volume was up six percent compared to the year-earlier period, and year-to-date sales stand one percent ahead of Suzuki’s record pace in 2006, keeping the company on target for a second-consecutive year of 100,000-plus vehicle sales.
Suzuki Auto’s upward sales momentum remains tied to its right-sized product lineup. Its two sport utility vehicles, the media-acclaimed XL7 and off-road capable Grand Vitara, which contributed heavily to the robust August sales total, blend utility, efficiency and high-content price points. August sales of the XL7 totaled 1,964 units, jumping 599 percent over the previous year’s outgoing model. Suzuki’s five-door SX4 Crossover also posted notable August results with sales of 1,008 units — 12 percent ahead of sales of the outgoing Aerio during the same period last year.
“Since the launch of the all-new Grand Vitara, followed by the introduction of the XL7 midsize crossover SUV and all-wheel drive SX4 Crossover, Suzuki has brought more exciting products to U.S. consumers,” said Mark Harano, president of American Suzuki’s Automotive Operations. “The arrival of the eagerly anticipated four-door SX4 Sport next month will bolster Suzuki’s recent successes and strengthen Suzuki’s position in the marketplace as an automaker to watch.”
Suzuki Auto’s product line includes the all-new XL7 midsize crossover, the all-wheel drive SX4 Crossover, the media-acclaimed Grand Vitara, the popular Forenza sedan and Wagon, and the five-door Reno. In addition to its already strong lineup, Suzuki recently announced the addition of the SX4 Sport to its American showrooms, on sale in October. All models are covered by America’s #1 Warranty, with an industry-leading 100,000-mile, seven-year, zero deductible, fully-transferable powertrain limited warranty.
