South Korean Automakers August 2007 Sales up 22.5%

Sept 3, 2007; Cheon Jong-woo and Jessica Kim writing for Reutersreported that combined August sales at Hyundai Motor Co. and other South Korean auto makers grew 22.5 percent to 396,024 units from a year ago on higher exports, the companies said on Monday.

 Overseas sales of South Korea's five car makers rose 27.0
percent from a year earlier while domestic sales climbed 10.8
percent.

 Auto exports, which account for 10 percent of all South
Korean exports, leaped an estimated 43.0 percent in value in
August from a year ago, Commerce Ministry data showed.
