After opening with the third quickest pass on Friday, Kurt Johnson and the ACDelco Cobalt Racing team entered the second day of qualifying at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals looking to fine-tune their set-up and secure their position in Monday's final eliminations field. Although they continued to run well, with two runs in the 6.6-second range and reset the O'Reilly Raceway Park track top speed record at 207.27 mph, their initial effort remained their run of record, slotting them in the fifth position. With two final attempts remaining, Johnson set his sights on ascending in the standings on Sunday. "We made two runs today and shook on both of them. Fortunately, we know what not to do for tomorrow.
