NEW YORK, August 30 -- THIS IS A MULTIVU SPECIAL REPORT BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE ALLIANCE OF AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS. ALL NEW 2008 AUTOMOBILE MODELS NOW HAVE A NEW SAFETY SYSTEM: THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM OR T-P-M-S.

T-P-M-S IS AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM THAT MONITORS YOUR VEHICLE'S TIRE PRESSURE. IF YOUR TIRES ARE UNDER INFLATED, THE NEW STANDARD T-P-M-S SYMBOL WILL LIGHT UP ON YOUR DASHBOARD. DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH UNDER INFLATED TIRES CAN COMPROMISE ITS SAFETY AS WELL AS FUEL EFFICIENCY.

DAVID McCURDY, PRESIDENT OF THE ALLIANCE OF AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS:

"Many factors impact a vehicle's tire pressure, including cooler temperatures. Fall is around the corner and while the new tire pressure symbol in all 2008 vehicles will let drivers know when their pressure is low, it is not meant to be a substitute for maintaining proper tire pressure. We urge drivers to check their tire pressure at least once a month and before long driving trips."

For more information on maintaining proper tire pressure, as well as to learn what the new T-P-M-S dashboard symbol looks like, visit checkmytires.com.

I'M KIRAN ZAIDI.
