7 Students Are Selected as Winners of Arthur B. Modine Scholars Program

RACINE, Wis.--Modine Manufacturing Company , a diversified leader in thermal management technology and solutions, announced today the 2007 recipients of the Arthur B. Modine Scholars Program, funded by the Modine Manufacturing Company Charity Foundation. The scholarships are named after the engineer and inventor who founded Modine 91 years ago.

The scholarships are available to children of full-time Modine employees at the corporate headquarters in Racine and at any of the manufacturing facilities or Modine subsidiaries in the United States. They range from $1,000 to $2,500 per year for four years. Since 1976, Modine has awarded the scholarships annually through the National Merit Scholarship Program. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation in Evanston, IL, an independent, not-for-profit organization, which identifies and honors talented high school students, selected the winners and determined the dollar amount of the awards.

The 2007 A.B. Modine Scholars are:

Matthew J. Bauer, son of Lynette Smoody, Accounts Payable Manager in Racine. Matthew graduated from Walden III High School in Racine. He will attend the University of Wisconsin -Madison where he will pursue a science degree and a career in medicine.

Emily N. Kaestner, daughter of Kurt Kaestner, Manufacturing, Engineering & Distribution Systems Manager in Racine. Emily graduated from Oak Creek High School in Oak Creek. She will attend Carroll College and major in elementary education.

Mandy D. Long, daughter of Terrie D. Long, Accounting Assistant at Modine’s Harrodsburg, Kentucky, plant. Mandy graduated from Mercer County High School in Harrodsburg. She will attend the University of Kentucky as a health science major.

Katlyn M. Potts, daughter of Dr. Carol Potts, Medical Director in Racine. Katlyn graduated from Lutheran High School in Racine. She will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison and pursue a pre-medicine major.

Katherine B. Simson, daughter of John Simson, Quality Control/Industrial Engineer at Modine’s Harrodsburg, Kentucky, plant. Katherine graduated from Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky. She will attend the University of Kentucky and major in architecture.

Nicholas P. Szczech, son of Jill Szczech, Mechanical Engineer in Racine. Nicholas graduated from Thomas More High School in Milwaukee. He will attend Marquette University in Milwaukee and major in biomedical health science.

Elizabeth G. Thayer, daughter of John Thayer, an Engineer at Modine’s Lancaster, Pennsylvania, facility. Elizabeth graduated from McCaskey High School in Lancaster. She will attend Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and major in biology.
