Disappointing Weekend For Delaney At Magic Mile

Disappointing Weekend For Delaney At Magic Mile

WEST ALLIS, Wisconsin (August 28, 2007) - - ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie
Dustin Delaney had hoped to shine in his pavement debut at The Milwaukee Mile this
past weekend. Unfortunately, a mechanical failure early in the race took
Delaney from the hunt.
The week before Milwaukee, the 17-year young gun made his ARS debut at the
famed Illinois State Fairgrounds behind the No. 48 _FreeFeds.org_
(http://www.freefeds.org/) Dodge Charger. After mother nature washed out ARCA SIM
Factory pole qualifying, Delaney lined up 26th on the starting grid. During the
course of the 100-lap event, Delaney smoothly moved through the field to finish
 14th.
The team was approaching The Milwaukee Mile hoping for their first top-10
finish of the year.
The quiet yet focused and calm Delaney studied the track upon arrival hoping
to find the perfect groove around the famed one-mile oval.
With a short practice on tap for the race weekend, Delaney knew that track
time was crucial.
During the hour and fifteen minute session, Delaney took several stabs at
The Milwaukee Mile hoping to nail a comfortable lap time. At the conclusion of
the session, Delaney had mastered the 27th fastest effort with a time of
32.707 seconds or 110.068 MPH.
“Our _FreeFeds.org_ (http://www.freefeds.org/) Dodge is pretty good,?? said
Delaney after practice. “We’re going to make some changes and see what we
can drum up. I’m pretty impressed with the Carter-2-Motorsports team, they are
a good bunch!??
As Delaney went out to make a qualifying attempt in the No. 48
_FreeFeds.org_ (http://www.freefeds.org/) , Delaney radioed in that there was a problem
with the clutch. The crew advised him to bring the car down pit road for
inspection. The team was unable to make a qualifying lap due to the mechanical
gremlin forcing the team to take a provisional for the Governor’s Cup 200.
“It’s a shame, we made some great changes in the car after practice and I
truly think they would have worked,?? said Delaney, who was assigned with the
37th position for the race. “The guys are going to work on the clutch and we’
ll get it fixed for the race tomorrow.??
Sunday morning brought the opportunity for the Carter-2-Motorsports team to
continue to work on Delaney’s machine hoping to fully correct the problem
prior to the start of the 12:00 race.
The team informed car owner Roger Carter, the problem had been corrected and
Delaney was set for the 17th race of the season.
At the start of the green flag, Delaney made a move towards the top-25, but
problems quickly sunk in as the transmission began to give way in the No. 48
Dodge forcing the rookie to bring his machine down pit road and make the
sharp left hand turn to the garage.
The team tried for nearly 50 laps to correct the machine, but crew chief Dan
Collins called for his driver to climb from the machine citing the
transmission could not be repaired forcing the team to withdraw from the remainder of
the event.
“It’s unfortunate,?? said Delaney. “We had a problem with the clutch in
qualifying and then had a problem during the race with the transmission. When it
isn’t your weekend, it isn’t your weekend. I want to thank the team for
their efforts this weekend, I appreciate it. We’ll move on to the next one.??
Delaney was credited with a 37th place finish.
Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is a stop at Gateway International
Raceway, a track that oversees the famed Gateway Arch. The Gateway ARCA 150 is a
one-day show with practice and qualifying setting the field for the 18th event
of the 2007 season. The green flag is scheduled to waive at 8:00pm Local
Time with live coverage on SPEED.
Carter-2-Motorsports (_www.carter2motorsports.com_
(http://www.carter2motorsports.com/) ) whose ARCA RE/MAX Series operation is based in Statesville,
North Carolina will run Dodge Chargers in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR
Busch Series (NBS) in 2007. The team will run the No. 48 handed over from the
legendary James Hylton who retired from full time ARCA competition following
the 2006 season finale at the new Iowa Speedway. The organization also runs a
second ARCA team part time this season utilizing the No. 67.
