Tough Night For Theriault & Team GLOCK At Mansfield

Tough Night For Theriault & Team GLOCK At Mansfield

“Engine Failure Erases Spraker Racing Enterprises Team From Competition??

MANSFIELD, Ohio (Tuesday, August 28, 2007) - - NASCAR Busch East Series
(NBES) rookie Michelle Theriault headed to Mansfield Motorsports Park this past
weekend looking to maneuver her No. 37 GLOCK, Inc. Chevrolet Monte Carlo into
her third top-10 finish of the year.
While never having the opportunity to race in the NBES at Mansfield
Motorsports Park (MMP), Theriault was banking on her prior experience at the track in
the United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR) Hooter’s Pro Cup Series to play a
role in NASCAR’s debut at the mid-Ohio based track.
With a one-day show scheduled for the teams, the day got off to a quick
start with two practice sessions leading up to Busch pole qualifying.
In the first practice session of the day, Theriault clocked off a lap of
17.370 seconds at 103.627 MPH, positioning the team 25th on the rundown.
“The car is tight for me,?? said Theriault, the only full time female
competitor in NASCAR. “We’re looking for a good run tonight, so we’ll make some
changes and see if we can put our GLOCK, Inc. Chevrolet towards the front.??
NASCAR opted to give the teams a second practice session leading up to Busch
pole qualifying. The Spraker Racing Enterprises team took full of advantage
of the opportunity.
During the final session or “Happy Hour,?? the 21-year old driver posted a
lap of 17.061 seconds at 105.504 MPH which locked the team 24th on the overall
 rundown.
“We’re getting better,?? Theriault said. “The difference between a Busch
East car and a Hooter’s Pro Cup car is night and day. I’m being optimistic for
qualifying and hope we can produce a lap that will put us near the front.
That’s the key here at Mansfield - staying near the front.??
Heading into Busch pole qualifying, Theriault looked to turn her fastest lap
of the weekend. She rose to the occasion and accomplished that. During her
two lap trial run, Theriault busted out a fast lap of 16.928 seconds at
106.333 MPH, putting the Connecticut native 20th on the starting grid.
“I qualified with the fastest lap from the weekend,?? offered Theriault. “
The guys on the Spraker Racing Enterprises team did a good job improving the
handling of the GLOCK, Inc. Chevrolet. Patience is a virtue in racing. If we
can keep everything in check, we should have a good night.??
During the race, Theriault did not make much progress, but hovered inside
the top-20. Sadly, the engine expired on the lap 88 restart which put the team
behind the wall and out of The Mansfield 150.
“It was another tough night for Team GLOCK Racing,?? said Theriault who
finished 23rd. “I really felt that we could have made a difference in the second
half, but we didn’t get that chance. We had a really good car; we just can’t
seem to catch a break right now.??
“I know this isn’t the run our sponsor GLOCK was looking for. We’re taking
a few weeks break from the NASCAR Busch East Series and we’ll go to Gateway
this weekend with the ARCA RE/MAX Series and see if we can bring in a good run.
