Chicco Launches the KeyFit(R) 30 Infant Car Seat
With the KeyFit 30, now your child can ride in the safest rear-facing position for longer
LANCASTER, Pa., Aug. 28 -- Just in time for Labor Day travel and the busy autumn season, Chicco announces the launch of its KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat, which holds babies in the safest traveling position until they weigh up to 30 pounds and measure 30 inches. Lightweight and easy to install, the KeyFit 30 boasts the widest weight range of any rear-facing infant car seat currently on the market, accommodating infants between 4 and 30 pounds.
The American Academy of Pediatrics, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and car seat safety advocates recommend that children ride rear-facing to the highest weight or height allowed by the car seat manufacturer, regardless of age. This position helps support an infant's delicate neck and proportionately heavy head in crash situations.
Says Julie Robbins, child passenger safety advocate, "The Chicco KeyFit 30 is a smart choice for parents. It is critical to keep children riding rear- facing as long as possible, and this design holds larger infants in the safest position months longer than would be advised in the standard 22 pound capacity infant car seats."
According to NHTSA, 80 percent of parents are installing their baby's seat incorrectly. The KeyFit 30 offers parents peace of mind and ease of installation, featuring one-hand adjustment and bubble-level guides that clearly indicate when the seat is installed at the correct angle.
Safety features that keep baby snug and safe include a 5-point harness with one-pull adjustment and an energy-absorbing foam liner for improved impact protection. For newborn babies, the KeyFit 30 comes with an infant insert that provides a better fit for infants 4 to 11 pounds.
"We are really excited about the KeyFit 30," says Mark Messner, VP of Product Development at Chicco, USA. "It is no small feat to be able to bring to market a car seat with a design that makes installation secure and easy, just as our customers have come to expect from us, while also allowing babies to ride in the safer rear-facing position for longer."
The Chicco KeyFit 30 is compatible with the Chicco stroller models Ct 0.1, Trevi, S3, and Cortina. It is available at Babies 'R' Us, USA Baby, and other baby specialty stores, as well as online. The car seat with base retails at $169.99.
