Carl Edwards joins The Office Depot Foundation for CA backpack donation

Hello - Following "the biggest win of his career," Carl Edwards, driver
of the No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion and the Office Depot Foundation
will donate 1,450 backpacks to local organizations and underprivileged
children at Rancho Cucamonga Office Depot store on Thursday, August 30
from 5 to 7pm.  We invite any and all media to attend.  Because Carl
will have a busy weekend at the track, this is the perfect opportunity
to speak with him leading into race weekend.  Embedded is a photo if you

WHO:              Carl Edwards, NASCAR star and driver of the No. 99
Office Depot Ford Fusion, headlines a very special event at the Office
Depot store in Rancho Cucamonga.  A former substitute teacher and
currently an Ambassador for Youth for National PTA, Edwards is helping
kids at the start of a new school year.

                           

WHAT:            During this special event Edwards and The Office Depot
Foundation are donating 1,450 backpacks to local organizations.  As part
of this year's back-to-school season, Edwards is joining with The Office
Depot Foundation to help donate more than 300,000 backpacks containing
basic school supplies to underprivileged and "at-risk" children.  By the
end of the year, Office Depot and the Office Depot Foundation will have
distributed more than 1.5 million backpacks to children since the
program began in 2001. 

 

Designated backpack recipients include:

*         5th District PTA

*         Planet Hope

*         Vine Life Christian Fellowship

*         Feeding Those Who Feed Us

*         HOPE Worldwide

*         Randall Pepper Elementary School

 

Special guests expected to attend:

*         City of Rancho Cucamonga Councilman Rex Gutierrez

*         Tina O'Brien-Coats, President, 5th District PTA (Parent
Teacher Association)

 

Note to media:  These backpacks are not available to the general public.
The backpacks are being donated only to the designated organizations
named above.

have picked up a wristband from the Office Depot store earlier in the
