Krohn Racing Sonoma Post-Race Report It was a very competitive race on a beautiful day at the Infineon Raceway/Sears Point in the Armed Forces 250, a two and one-half hour/97-lap sprint race for Daytona Prototypes in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series on Saturday, August 25th. The No. 99 Gainsco Pontiac Riley of Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty won their seventh race of the season and the No. 57 Brumos Porsche of David Donohue and Darren Law finished second. The No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley of Nic Jönsson and Ricardo Zonta, who filled in for Colin Braun, finished fifth. Jönsson had started the Pontiac from the outside pole, qualifying in the second position. The No. 76 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley of team owner/driver Tracy Krohn and Max Papis started and finished in the 16th position after a lengthy pit stop early and retired the car just before the end of the race. The No. 01 Ganassi team leads the No. 10 SunTrust team in points in the DP Team championship. The No. 99 Gainsco Racing team is third and the No. 75 Krohn Racing team continues to maintain fourth place. Tracy W. Krohn, team owner/driver, No. 76 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley: “Early in the race the No. 60 car and I touched on the right hand side. I caught the curb and got a puncture. I ran through the dirt. I lost about three laps in the pits. I was pushing really hard at the end and overcooked it out of Turn 7 and spun the car. I hung it out there. It was a nice little birthday gift (Tracy’s birthday is Sunday, August 26th.) to get all that time in the car. It is a fun track and a great day. I hope to come here forever. In the No. 75 car we had a long put stop. Not totally sure what that was about. We will be back with for the MillerMotorsportsPark race next month and hope to end the season on a good note.�?? Max Papis, driver, No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley: “I was pleased that Tracy got the points he needed for the Truman Award. I did not get to drive the car today, but Tracy improved his Truman Award points and that was the final goal. I was planning to go and drive the last 5-6 laps to finish the race off.We had a starter motor problem and Tracy was stuck in the middle of the race track somewhere and couldn’t restart the car. Tracy won the Truman Award and now we go on to Miller to finish the season.�?? Nic Jönsson, driver, No. 76 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley: “It was not that great of a race for us actually. The car was very loose after about 10 minutes into the stint and I was really fighting very hard not go off the track. It was two laps or so to go before we came in the pits. The balance of the car changed dramatically from yesterday and this morning. We did some changes in the pit stop and the car got better towards the end when Ricardo got in. Fifth place finish is probably not what we should be satisfied with because I think we definitely had a Top Two car here today, especially after you look at the track times at the end of the race. We lost track position on the first pit stop. I’m not sure how that happened because we had a pretty good pit stop. The team did a great job again. The car was fantastic as far as mechanicals. We have to go on to the next one and try to win.�?? Ricardo Zonta driver, No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley: “I enjoy it a lot. It was very fun. The beginning was a little bit difficult because the car was not really quick, but after a few laps I played with the torsion bars and the car started to be more connected on the fast corners and it was easier to get speed on the other cars. It is difficult to overtake here. We were quicker sometimes than the others but we couldn’t overtake because of the track does not give you the opportunity. I enjoyed working with the team a lot. I think they did a good job as well. Everything worked very well. The car was very reliable as well.�?? Jeff Hazell, Krohn Racing Team Manager: “We were as quick as the 58 car. At the pit stop we removed some aerodynamic pieces. It was still difficult. Ricardo got it more drivable. We were slightly mystified why we seem to go backwards at the pit stops. We have to investigate that. We’re a little disappointed really because we think the car should have finished higher than it did.�?? The finale race of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series season, Round 14 of 14, will be the Sunchaser 1000 at MillerMotorsportsPark in Tooele, Utah on August 12-15, 2007. The race will be televised live on SPEED TV in two parts on Saturday, September 15 at 1:00 p.m. ET and again at 5:30 p.m. ET.
