!!!HINES CONTINUES SUPER STOCK DOMINANCE!!!

BLOOMINGTON, IN (August 25, 2007) - Last night gave us another great night for racing at Bloomington Speedway. Record temperatures all week tended to make most of us a little irritable: however, we arrived at Bloomington Speedway intent on giving the fans a great evening of racing. We've learned over the past few weeks that we just have to get the sun below the western horizon to bring the temperatures back into the comfort range. During the "B" features some lightning was seen in the northern skies. However, the threat disappeared as quickly as it came. The fans received what they came for - a great evening of racing.

O'REILLY MIDWEST ALL STARS WINGED SPRINT CARS -

Although at Bloomington Speedway we generally prefer our sprint cars to be topless, Mike Miles schedules at least one winged sprint car race per season. For this season he chose the O'Reilly Midwest All Stars. They have a solid following of winged sprint car drivers ranging from old pro's like Danny Smith to relative beginners like Arin McIntosh. The beginners learn from the more experienced drivers; and the fans enjoy it all.

However, we all got a big surprise when Randy Kinser showed up at the pit gate with his nephew, Kraig Kinser, and a winged sprint car for him to drive. Kraig has been occupied most of the season with NASCAR Craftsman Trucks and ARCA stock cars. However, when he found himself in Bloomington on a Friday evening, he couldn't resist the urge to strap himself back into a sprint car. Since his dad's shop is only a couple of miles from Bloomington Speedway and since there was car there that was ready to race, he and Randy decided to grab the opportunity to put Kraig back into a sprint car.

Jesse Hockett has become known as a driver who can win with or without wings; and last night he put the competition on notice that, if they beat him last night, it wasn't going to be easy. He set quick time of 10.113 second. Kraig Kinser was second quick with a time of 10.153 seconds. Ryan Bunton, Ty Deckard, Tyler Thompson, and A.J. Bruns made up the rest of the six fastest qualifiers.

There were a number of racers who compete at Bloomington Speedway on a fairly regular basis without a wing including Deckard, Kevin Briscoe, Lee Stark, Kyle Cummins, Tom Busch, Bobby Stines, Arin McIntosh, and Jeff Bland, Jr.

In the first heat race Jesse Hockett started sixth and drove to a convincing feature win followed by Danny Smith, Kyle Cummins, Jeff Bland, Jr., and Scott Williams.

Tom Busch won the second heat from the pole followed by Tyler Thompson, Robby Standridge, and Tiffany Wyzard. Kraig Kinser finished fifth to collect the last ticket to the feature event.

Jerrod Hull took the final heat race.

Ty Deckard started the "B" feature on the pole and led the first seven laps before losing the lead to Bobby Stines Arin McIntosh came home third followed by Terry Babb and Jeremy Standridge.

The invert put Danny Smith on the pole for the start of the feature. If there is anything that a bunch of winged sprint car racer's don't like to see, it's a tough competitor like Danny Smith getting a break on the invert. While he didn't need that break, he was glad to accept it. When the green flag waved, Danny charged into the lead; and he gradually began to stretch it out. At the end of the first lap, Kraig Kinser was running third; and, by the end of the third lap, Kraig was running second. Kinser chased Smith for the entire distance; however, he could never find his way past him. And, on the white flag lap, Jimmy Hurley moved past Kraig into second.

While Kinser had to settle for second place, he did get the opportunity to do some honest sprint car racing with his friends; and he was only ten minutes from home. There are lots of things worse than that.

Robbie Standridge came home fourth followed by A.J. Bruns, Jerrod Hull, and Kyle Cummins. Jeff Bland, Jr. finished eighth in what was probably his first winged race. Ryan Bunton and Jeremy Standridge rounded out the top ten.

O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds -

There were 31 O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds on hand. Kent Robinson held a skinny 9 point advantage over Shelby Miles going into last night's competition. One sub-par night could take the points lead from him. While Jesse Cramer is further back in the points, it seems that no lead is big enough.

In preliminary action, Greg Amick, Kent Robinson, Jesse Cramer, and Shelby Miles won the heat races. Greg Amick led the "B" feature flag to flag. Brian Yeatman worked his way up from his sixth place starting position to finish second; while Bradley Sterrett and Brent Payne picked up the final two tickets to the feature.

The redraw to align the front of the feature put Ray Humphrey, Greg Amick, Richie Lex, Clint DeMoss, Shelby Miles, Kent Robinson, Jesse Cramer, and Josh Eads in the first four rows.

Last week Ray Humphrey won his first feature of the season; and, for Ray to race that deep into the season before scoring a feature win is indeed singular. However, Ray's luck seems to have taken a turn for the better when he drew the pole for last night's feature. When the green flag dropped to start the O'Neal Wood Products modified feature Humphrey charged into the lead. Richie Lex took second place followed by Greg Amick, Shelby Miles, and Clint DeMoss. By the end of the fourth circuit DeMoss had taken second place. At the ten lap point it was Humphrey, DeMoss, Miles, and Jesse Cramer. As the race wore on, Humphrey had a firm grasp of the lead but there was a fierce battle for second among DeMoss, Cramer, and Miles. DeMoss raced his way to a strong second place finish trailed by Jesse Cramer, Shelby Miles, Matt Boknecht and Kent Robinson.

Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks -

After taking last Friday night off, the Tire & Wheel Center super stocks were back in action last night. Jack Frye won the first heat race from the pole followed by Troy Clark, Winston Howe, Danny Harris, and Joe Lucas. The second heat went to Chris Hillman trailed by Travis Howe, Travis Todd, Ben DuBois, and Kevin Arthur.

Brad Cummings won the final heat ahead of Hines, Chris Deweese, Tom Ault, and Jason Clark.

Mike Jones led the "B" feature flag to flag. Nathan Patman came home second trailed by Josh Burton, Rick Gumm, and Steve Hollars.

The redraw gave Jeremy Hines the pole followed by Jack Frye, Brad Cummings, Troy Clark, Chris Hillman, and Travis Howe. They say that when you're running in good luck, you just need to set back and enjoy it. And, that seems to be what Hines is doing. Going into last night's competition Jeremy had won six of the thirteen features run so far this season. However, it is nearly impossible to find a driver who has won enough.

When the green flag waved Jeremy took the lead that he would hold all of the way to the checkered flags. Jack Frye held onto second until lap seven when Brad Cummings took over. Chris Hillman took over third place; however, before the checkered flag has waved Cummings had recaptured second place. Jeremy held on to take his seventh feature win of the season. It would seem that Jeremy is well on his way to another Tire & Wheel Center super stock championship.
