FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wittmer Fastest SPEED Touring Car in Mosport Practice CANADA (Aug. 24, 2007) – Kuno Wittmer, of Montreal, Quebec, topped both the morning and evening practice sessions at Mosport International Raceway, for Round Eight of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship, part of Mobil 1 Presents the Grand Prix of Mosport. Adam Pecorari, of Aston, Penn., and Michael Galati, of Olmstead, Ohio, completed the top three. Although Wittmer was unable to improve on his morning session time of 1:30.118 (98.231 mph) in his No. 44 Acura Certified Pre-Owned/RealTime Acura RSX, the lap remained the fastest of the day around the 10-turn, 2.459-mile (3.957 km) road course. In both the morning and evening practice sessions, Pecorari waited until the closing minutes to turn his fastest laps. His second session time of 1:30.516 (97.799 mph) was an improvement of more than half a second over his morning session time and the driver of the No. 19 STaSIS/Clear Capital/Pfaff Audi A4 remained second on the time sheets. Pecorari’s fast time in the second session came just before the session was red flagged and ended early for the No. 41 Velocity Motorsports Honda Accord of Scott Nicol and the No. 37 BimmerWorld BMW 325i of Joey Hand, who both got into the tires at Turn Two. Third fastest in both sessions, Galati’s evening session was slightly faster. The No. 95 Mazda North America/Tindol Mazda 6 driver turned fast lap of 1:30.795 (97.498 mph). Ian Baas, of Noblesville, Ind., improved exponentially from the morning session and jumped from 20th to fourth on the time sheets. Baas hustled the No. 18 STaSIS/Clear Capital/Pfaff Audi A4 to a time of 1:31.022 (97.255 mph). His teammate, Chip Herr, of Lititz, Penn., finished the day fifth in his No. 17 STaSIS/Clear Capital/Pfaff Audi A4 with a time of 1:31.110 (97.161 mph), putting all the STaSIS Audis in the top five. Pierre Kleinubing (Acura TSX), Seth Thomas (BMW 325i), Randy Pobst (Mazda 6), Peter Cunningham (Acura TSX) and Brandon Davis (Acura TSX) completed the top ten. Qualifying for Round Seven of the SCCA SPEED Touring Car Championship is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. (EDT) on Saturday. The race will go green on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. (EDT).
