AAA Minnesota/Iowa Presents MN State Patrol with New Rollover Simulator

BURNSVILLE, Minn.--Minnesotans will see a new rolling attraction at the State Fair this year simulating what happens to occupants who are not properly restrained during a rollover crash.

AAA Minnesota/Iowa donated the rollover simulator to the Minnesota State Patrol to assist them in promoting the seat belt message. The rollover simulator is a pick-up truck cab that rotates up to 30 miles per hour during the demonstration.

As part of the Minnesota State Patrol Day at the State Fair, the Minnesota State Patrol will have a large display of their past and present modes of transportation as well as the newly donated rollover simulator. The display will be available for viewing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 27th on Dan Patch Ave.

Fifty-two percent of the 494 people that died on Minnesota roadways in 2006 were not using a seat belt. It is a needless loss of life, said Gail Weinholzer, director of public affairs for AAA Minnesota/Iowa. We hope that by providing this rollover simulator to the Minnesota State Patrol, we can aid their ability to communicate the seat belt message even more effectively through a visual presentation.

AAA was founded more than 100 years ago to enhance roadway safety for everyone, said Weinholzer. We take our history and responsibility quite seriously.

We appreciate the generosity AAA Minnesota/Iowa has shown to the Minnesota State Patrol in its most recent contribution of this rollover simulator, stated Lt. Mark Peterson, MN State Patrol. Traffic safety is everyones business and should be everyones priority.

In addition to the rollover simulator, the rollover dummies and seat belt literature piece were also provided by AAA Minnesota/Iowa.

AAA offers automotive, travel, insurance and financial services to 50 million members in the United States and Canada. AAA Minnesota/Iowa is part of The Auto Club Group, with 4.1 million members in eight Midwest states.
