School Buses and Money Scramble at a Busy Stock Car Staurday Night SSP This Weekend
Newberrytown, PA (August 23, 2007) - At the Susquehanna Speedway Park, Stock Car Saturday Night returns on August 25 with the Members First FCU Kid's Money Scramble and the Great American School Bus Championship along with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stocks, Legends Cars and Classic Cars. All kid's 12 and under will have the opportunity to scramble for money on the frontstretch and one boy and one girl who find the "special coin" will win a bicycle.
Ron Brown of Hummelstown was the name drawn last weekend to receive the "ride of a lifetime" in the Superior Home Race Car Ride-Along with Ray Broderick. He will receive a few laps in the passenger seat of Ray's Xtreme Stock Car. Every week one ticket will be drawn from the adult general admission tickets to win a ride for the week after.
On Saturday, the pit gates will open 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday & Sunday nights will be Adults and Teens (13 & older) $12.00; Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced price of $18.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.
There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week's events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes. Last season, 10 winners were drawn from the repeat fans and each winner received $30 in SSP Gift Certificates for tickets or concessions. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
Last Saturday night found Carl Billet of Carlisle returning to the Late Model victory lane for the sixth time this season. Lebanon's Stephen Dove won his first of the season on the 20-lap Street Stock main event. Carlisle's Chris Heller won his first career victory in the always entertaining Xtreme Stock Cars 30 lapper. Grant Adams from Ono won his second straight in the Four Cylinder Stock Car feature event. Nancy Frye of York was a popular winner in her first win of the year the XSC Rookie Rumble and Etters' Jeff Svendsen won the Susquehanna Recyclers Mini Van feature. Chad Smith won the Clean Technologies Young Guns Shootout.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located midway between Harrisburg and York off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. - Information About "The Outback" Track at SSP - The Outback Track at SSP is still currently under construction for Quarter Midgets, karts and more. The days of operation will be Saturday during the daytime hours. As work continues, the first open practice date has been pushed back to a date to be announced based on the delivery of the clay.
Competitive racing is set to begin after a few practice dates have been completed. The classes/types of cars or karts will be developed during the open practice sessions. Details will continue to be released as they become finalized.
