RINGERS GLOVES PRO BIKE BATTLE WARRIORS SET TO TANGLE
LABOR DAY WEEKEND AT ORP
Brownsburg, Ind. - (August 23, 2007) Saturday, September 1 marks the 17th
running of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Pro Stock Motorcycle specialty
race, the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle, held during the Mac Tools U.S.
Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis.
Andrew Hines, the reigning Battle champion, sits second place in points,
with U.S. Army rider Angelle Sampey leading the way, vying for her first Pro
Bike Battle title. Sampey snagged the top position in the 2007 Ringers Gloves
Pro Bike Battle points by collecting six No. 1 qualifying spots since
Indianapolis 2006. She will face Steve Johnson and his Snap-On/Wyotech Suzuki in
the first round.
Riders started accumulating points for the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle in
Indianapolis last year and concluded in Reading just last weekend. The No.
1 qualifier at each event is awarded $1,000 for their low qualifying effort.
The top eight then compile the field for the elite race to battle for the
$25,000 top prize. While the winner takes home the big money, the trophy and
the bragging rights, the remaining riders are not left forgotten. The
runner-up for the event will take home $10,000 from Ringers Gloves; the two
semifinalists, $6,000 each and the four eliminated in first round, $3,500 each, for
a grand total of a $61,000 payout for the one day event.
Should the rider that wins the Battle win also win the U.S. Nationals, that
rider will receive an additional $10,000 bonus from the NHRA.
Ceremonies for the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle commence at 1:45 p.m.,
with the introduction of the top eight riders. First round of action follows
shortly thereafter at 2:15 p.m., with semifinals at 6 p.m. and the Battle
finals taking place at 8:10 p.m.
Don’t forget to stop by the Ringers Glove Shack on the Manufacturer’s
Midway, Saturday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. The top eight riders will be available for
autographs and photos prior to the day’s events.
