Dexter Bean Hopes Hometown Advantage
Equals First Victory In Milwaukee
WEST ALLIS, Wisconsin (Thursday, August 23, 2007) - - It looks like Dexter
Bean’s wish of the rain going away will come true. Torrential rain and fierce
thunderstorms have invaded Bean’s home state of Wisconsin. The unexpected
weather pattern has Bean’s hometown of Westby, Wisconsin seeing record flooding,
mudslides and damaging winds.
With the system subsiding by Friday, Bean can head to The Milwaukee Mile
this weekend knowing that the rain is gone for now and the skies should see
sunshine allowing Bean to focus on Sunday’s Governors Cup 200 without any
obstacles.
“I’m glad the rain is going to be gone,?? said Bean, who lives three hours
from The Milwaukee Mile. “It’s been a tough week for everyone in the state of
Wisconsin. The record book shows that it’s been 100 years since a system
like this has blasted its way through. Luckily for all of us, it should clear up
for race weekend and we can focus on the race.??
Bean is a huge fan of The Milwaukee Mile and residing just hours away brings
a plethora of fans and support for Bean in this weekend’s event.
“A lot of people think a race like Daytona or Talladega is the biggest race
of the year, but for me, it’s this weekend at The Milwaukee Mile. I love
competing at the track, it’s a fun place to race and I have a lot of support.??
He continued, “We have a bus coming from Westby full of people to watch the
race. That means a lot to me. We should have a good car this weekend, so
hopefully I’ll make everyone proud on Sunday.??
Crew Chief Chris Bires has elected to bring the same Chevrolet Monte Carlo
the team competed with at Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois
last Sunday. In the Allen Crowe 100, Bean started third after the field was
set by points, rallied back from an early race pit stop to collect a stout
fifth place.
“We’ve made some adjustments to the car to set it up for The Milwaukee Mile,
?? said Bean, who enters this weekend’s race third in the championship
standings. “We had a good run going last year, but didn’t collect the finish we
deserved. We’re on a roll again with three straight top-10 finishes. I’m
hungry for a win; I just hope we can deliver a good run in our backyard this
weekend.??
With seven races remaining on the schedule and Bean currently still in
contention for the championship, he knows the consistency has to continue in order
to be in the hunt for his first driver’s championship.
“I would like to see the championship come down to Toledo,?? explained Bean.
“We’ve had a great year. No complaints. Realistically, it’s going to take
some misfortune by the other guys for us to catch up. We’ve made a lot of
ground up in Pocono, but lost a tiny bit last weekend. The only thing we can
really do is continue to give everything each and every week and hope for the
best.??
Bean will pull double duty this weekend at The Milwaukee Mile. In addition
to the ARCA RE/MAX Series race, Bean has entered the Wisconsin All-Star 50
late model event which is scheduled to run shortly after the conclusion of the
ARCA race.
“The late model race is all about having fun. We’ve been prepping this car
for a while and we should be pretty good. It’s going to be a tough field with
Matt Kenseth in the race, but I’m sure I’ll have plenty of adrenaline from
the ARCA race. Our goal is to leave the track Sunday hoisting the winner’s
trophies for both events.??
While BlackJack Racing is still searching for additional sponsorship of
Bean's No. 6 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the team is glad to have local longtime
supporter Five Star Telecom on board as an associate sponsor.
Since their beginning in 1973, FST (Five Star Telecom), a long-time
supporter of Bean's racing career has become one of the largest interconnect
companies in the Upper Midwest, with multiple locations serving the tri-state area.
Rolling into Milwaukee, Dexter Bean has 44 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his
credit with five-top five finishes and 14 top-10 efforts. He holds a career
best finish of second at Salem Speedway and Pocono Raceway (April 2007 and
June 2007). He owns the 2006 ARCA SIM Factory pole award at Salem Speedway
(September 2006) while hoisting a career-best speedway time trials effort of
fourth at Pocono Raceway (June 2006). Bean also has controlled the ARCA field for
138 laps in six races.
BlackJack Racing is still seeking additional primary and associate sponsors
