LoJack System Delivers Powerful Cross Border Theft Solution in Italy/France Recovery
WESTWOOD, Mass., Aug. 22, 2007: LoJack Corporation , the leading global provider of recovery systems for stolen mobile assets, today announced its Stolen Vehicle Recovery System led Italian police to recover a Lamborghini that was purchased in France and stolen in Italy. This cross border recovery highlights the effectiveness of LoJack's European Recovery Network, which extends from Italy and France to the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Poland and Russia.
"This recovery underscores LoJack's ability to deliver a powerful, proven system that helps fight vehicle theft both within country borders and beyond," said Ronald V. Waters, LoJack President and COO. "It demonstrates our European Network's ability to help police crack down on this type of vehicle theft. As we exhibited by our recent US/Mexico agreement, it is our continued goal to deliver the best recovery solutions available to help fight this crime on a global scale."
About the Recovery
On Thursday, July 26, LoJack's French licensee was notified that a customer had his Lamborghini Gallardo stolen while he was vacationing on the Eastern Coast of Italy. Thieves had broken into the house at dawn where the owner was vacationing and, using sleeping gas to subdue the victim, stole the keys to his Lamborghini. LoJack's French licensee immediately reported the theft to LoJack Italia, which then activated the LoJack Recovery System. Through the LoJack System, Italian police located the vehicle en route on a highway leading from Rome to Naples. Italian State Patrol vehicles seized the vehicle and arrested two thieves, who were from Albania.
