SPECIAL EVENT (BRISTOL) - NASCAR Foundation and Speedway Children's Charities Announce Fall Track Walk
Racing fans will once again have the chance to don their walking shoes and head to the track for The NASCAR Foundation Track Walks. The Foundation has announced that it will partner with Speedway Children’s Charities on three walks for the fall Track Walk season.
Speedway Children’s Charities and The NASCAR Foundation will host The NASCAR Foundation Track Walks prior to highly anticipated NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series events at Bristol Motor Speedway (Sat., Aug. 25), Lowe’s Motor Speedway (Sat., Oct. 13) and Atlanta Motor Speedway (Sat., Oct. 27).
Proceeds from each of these events will go to benefit the local race chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities and The NASCAR Foundation.
“The Track Walks have become one of our most popular fundraising events,” said Mike Helton, NASCAR President and vice-chairman of The NASCAR Foundation. “By participating, race fans enjoy a great at-track experience and also are able to make a charitable donation in the process. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.”
The fall schedule opens at the newly repaved Bristol Motor Speedway and will enable walkers to experience first-hand the new surface prior to the famous Sharpie 500 Bristol night race (Aug. 25, ESPN, 7 p.m.)
“We’re very pleased to be partnering with the NASCAR Foundation for the Track Walk,” said Claudia Byrd, director of the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities. “This is a very unique opportunity for fans to get to actually walk on the newly concreted surface at Bristol. I think a lot of folks will want to see what the surface is like and this is the perfect occasion to do that while also supporting two wonderful organizations.”
The 2007 Track Walk series will wrap up the season at the Atlanta Motor Speedway after the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200 on Oct. 27 (SPEED, 12:30 p.m.)
Fans can register online to participate in The NASCAR Foundation Track Walk by visiting www.nascar.com/foundation. Registration fees are $30 for each individual, and children under the age of 14 are free with a paying adult. Participants are able to register as individuals or teams and are encouraged to raise money through friends, family and colleagues. Registered walkers at each walk that raise over $150 through team online fundraising are eligible for some unique NASCAR-themed prizes.
